For the past few months I have had the distinct pleasure of being a participating artist mentor as part of the School Contemporary Arts Mentoring Program (SCAMP), coordinated by Merryn Hull PhD and supported by CreateNSW. My fellow artist mentors and I have been meeting regularly (over Zoom) with our student mentees from high schools in the Cessnock region with the aim of putting together a joint exhibition called ‘Cessnock Contemporary’. Covid restrictions in NSW have made it difficult for both mentors and mentees and have led to the postponement of the exhibition until December, but I am very excited to share with you the online catalogue which documents our progress towards the final exhibition. I am incredibly proud of my mentee Lily and all the hard work she has put into this project. She’s a talented and dedicated young woman and I can’t wait to see her finished work in December and congratulate her in person.
