Second February Announcement: Tides and Currents

Louise Bourgeois, The Destruction of the Father 1974. Installation view from Louise Bourgeois: Has the Day Invaded the Night or Has the Night Invaded the Day? at the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney, NSW.

Hi everyone,

I know it’s still February, but I have something to share with you all and I can’t wait until March.

I have been invited to contribute to Louise Bourgeois: Tides and Currents (10-12 March), an exciting symposium convened by Léa Vuong from the University of Sydney, produced by the Art Gallery of NSW with support from The Power Institute and the French Embassy in Australia, and held in conjunction with the fantastic exhibition Louise Bourgeois: Has the Day Invaded the Night or Has the Night Invaded the Day? at the AGNSW.

There will be many great talks and speakers, but I am particularly pleased to be speaking alongside the brilliant Helen Pynor in a session titled ‘Artist talks: Melancholia and other liquid feelings’ hosted by art historian and Francophone scholar Victoria Souliman. The session will take place from 2:30-3:30pm, Monday 11 March in the South Building, lower level 3, Domain Theatre. As part of the session, I will be giving a talk titled, ‘Controlling chaos: psychoanalysis, sublimation and the “guarantee of sanity”‘.

The symposium is open to the general public and free, no tickets required. I’d love to see you there!

And remember, for all the latest updates make sure you’ve signed up to my mailing list or follow me on any of the various social media platforms (LinkedInInstagramFacebookTumblr).
